Mike has been providing development advice in relation to highway and transportation matters to private sector clients since 2016. Mike had previously worked in the public sector for over eight years, reviewing major and strategic planning applications, providing advice to local planning authorities on the preparation of their local plans and core strategies, providing inputs into local highway design guidance, as well as providing training and overseeing a number of staff providing highway advice to planning authorities, developers and consultants.
Mike now specialises in advising a wide range of clients, including planning consultants, residential and commercial developers, private individuals and local authorities in all development planning matters. Mike prides himself on being able to resolve highway objections, and to ensure that the information submitted in support of a development proposal is robust and demonstrates that the development is suitable in highway and transportation terms.
Mike is adept at providing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Feasibility and Access Reports on a wide range of schemes, from developments of new settlements, small residential schemes, retail and commercial developments. Mike has provided expert witness evidence at public inquiry and provided advice to a number of planning committees, as well as attending public meetings.
Mike provides a friendly, hands-on approach to dealing with clients and stakeholders and believes that building strong relationships with the project team, the council and any other stakeholders is the way to ensure a positive outcome for his client.
Outside of the office, Mike enjoys socialising with his friends and girlfriend, playing football and cricket, and for his sins watching Wolverhampton Wanderers. Mike also enjoys travelling, visiting new places and investigating their roads!
