Cotswold Transport Planning were instructed to consider the redevelopment of a B&Q store to provide a new facility for a national retailer on the Isle of Wight.
Issues & Solutions
The key issue to consider was the increase in trip generation due to the partial change of use of the site to enable some food and drink retail.
The increase in trip generation of the proposed site was considered through a net trip impact assessment between the historic use of the site and the proposed use of the site. The assessment demonstrated that proposed development would not have a severe impact on the local highway network and had the car parking capability to accommodate the change.
A Transport Statement was developed to assist with the planning application.
Planning permission was granted for the discount retail store.
