Cotswold Transport Planning were instructed to consider the vehicle impact on the local highway network of a solar farm construction adjacent to Cam and Dursley Rail Station.
Issues & Solutions
The key issues were whether the access would be safe and suitable to be temporarily intensified and the impact of the vehicles travelling to and from the site.
In order to resolve these issues a Construction Traffic Management Plan was developed.
The safety and suitability of the access was considered through obtaining 85th percentile traffic speeds on the Unnamed Road in order to provide appropriate junction visibility splays. This ensured that the access would be suitable for the construction and operational trips generated by the development.
A route was developed to ensure that there would be a minimum impact on the local highway network on roads suitable for HGV’s.
The Solar Farm achieved planning consent and has know been built out.
